Michael Perdue

Michael Perdue was born in Lindsay, Ontario, January the 18th, 1889. In his later years, the Perdue family began to move apart from one another. Mrs and Mr Thomas Perdue, Michael's parents, moved to Ennismore Ontario, as their eldest son served in France. John G Perdue, Michael's older brother, died of a shell landing in his units gun pit burning both his hand and face.

 

Meanwhile, Michael Perdue moved to El Paso, Texas, as a school teacher. Michael Perdue joined the Canadian Army in Peterborough, Ontario, January the 29th, 1917. Gnr M.Perdue joined the 68th battery, later transferring and serving the 8th Brigade Canadian Field Artillery, till his death on September the 1st, 1918.

 

After his death in Hermanville, France, Michael Perdue had a burial on September the 3rd along with many of his fellow soldiers. Gnr M. Purdue's grave can be found in Arras Memorial Cemetery in France.


Description:  Michael Perdue was 5’6 with a ruddy complexion. He had bright blue eyes and dark brown hair. When taking part in the doctor description for his enlistment, Michael perdue was listed to have many moles and scars on his body. M. Perdue was not able to wed before serving, but died strongly believing in both the Roman Catholic church and his nation.
